Marble Rosso Levanto Introduction
- Product No.:2025129154341
The Rosso Levanto marble, or simply Red Levanto, is an Italian variety of marble with a reddish-purple hue that was already used by the Romans for creating columns, floors, and cladding. The base of this stone is characterized by a predominantly reddish pigmentation, due to the presence of iron oxides, against which stands out a striking and dense interplay of shiny white veins.
This variety of red marble is extracted in Liguria, primarily in the comune of Levanto, from which it takes its name, as well as in the neighboring communes along the Ligurian Riviera, including Framura, Bonassola, Montaretto, and Deiva Marina.
Its distinctive chromatic appearance, along with its durability and polishability, has made it a renowned material since ancient times, to the extent that even some Etruscan funeral artifacts made of Levantine red marble have been discovered.

The clarity and brilliance of this stone make it particularly suitable for creating design elements for your red bathroom, such as a red bathtub, a red washbasin, or a shower tray.
A red marble bathtub in rosso levanto can particularly highlight this material due to the chromatic contrast created between the exterior of the red bathtub and its interior. Another option is to have a fully red bathtub and accentuate the color contrast by choosing furniture with a predominance of white: using both white marbles and other light-colored stones

Rosso Lepanto or Rosso Levanto
Both due to the fragile environmental conditions of the places of origin and due to the introduction on the market of similar lithotypes such as Lepanto red, the extractive activity of red marble is very limited. In fact, Rosso Lepanto is a broken Turkish marble very similar to Rosso Levanto but extracted in Turkey. Therefore, despite the close similarity from a chromatic and motif point of view, Rosso Lepanto is a different product from Rosso Levanto. But then why is the name of this stone Rosso Lepanto if Lepanto is located in Greece and not Turkey? Well, for marketing reasons it seems that this marble was called in this way, albeit erroneously, for resonance with Levanto: so much so that today the two terms red Lepanto and red Levanto are used almost as synonyms.
